PaperIQ triumph in the "Big Apple"

May 25th, 2006

• PaperIQ invited to participate in “Dragon’s Den” style technology event in New York, organised by the CIO Executive Council and Silicon Valley Bank.

 • Six fast growing technology companies were selected from an initial list of over 40 companies. PaperIQ were the only European company short-listed to present at the event.

 • Presentations made to a panel of 5 distinguished CIOs in front of a large audience of CIOs and representatives from the investment community.

 • The five-man panel made up of CIOs from Deutsche Bank, New York Mercantile Exchange, Reuters, Tyco and the Scholastic Corporation, gave PaperIQ joint highest mark at the event.

On Tuesday May 24th the founders of PaperIQ, James Shannon and Robert Bakewell took part in a mobile technology event run by the prestigious CIO Executive Council (www.cioexecutivecouncil.com). The event, at the Regency Hotel in New York, was modelled on the BBC’s highly popular “Dragons Den” television programme.

The six participating technology companies, each selected from an initial list of over 40 companies, were asked to give a concise 8 minute presentation to a panel of five senior and highly experienced CIOs. After the presentation, each company faced 5-10 minutes of tough questioning by the panellists, who then gave their opinion on whether they felt the business was likely to be a success or failure, by showing the green side or red side of a ping-pong bat!

PaperIQ’s digital pen technology for the BlackBerry was well received by the panel and four of the five panellists gave PaperIQ a green vote, the joint highest score at the event.
